High Vis Workwear
When the conditions in your manufacturing facility dictate hi-vis safety apparel is warranted for extra team member protection, you may benefit from the hi-vis safety apparel manufactured in the U.S. by Tri-Star Glove.
With our extensive knowledge manufacturing high-performance inherent flame-resistant (IFR) safety apparel, we work with the distributor and/or end-user to ensure a customized solution that will protect the team members from workplace hazards. Part of that process involves pairing the right textile to match the threat. Why Hi-Vis Workwear?
Accidents happen in locations that have low lighting, moving vehicles, and/or overhead cranes. High visibility safety apparel is worn by employees to increase their visibility in these locales. These garments are made using very bright colors or reflective striping which creates significant contrast to the surrounding area and helps prevent accidents caused by persons not being visible to those around them.
High Performance Hi-Vis Fabrics and Striping
Most of the hi-vis fabrics we use to make our safety apparel are inherent flame-resistant (IFR), which means the protective properties are inherent to the fiber and cannot be laundered out over the life of the garment. This also means they won’t burn, melt, or drip. Most of these fabrics provide HRC1 or HRC2 arc flash rated protection.
When you need to protect your employees from other threats, such as weld splatter, grinding sparks, molten metal splash or cuts, but still need them to be visible, then hi-vis striping is the answer. Most of the high-performance fabrics we use to manufacture the garments are designed to protect your team members from these threats but are not bright in color. To provide the visibility aspect, we can apply sew-on or heat transfer striping.
- Sew-on striping is available in two colors: yellow/silver/yellow and orange/silver/orange.
- Heat transfer options are available in silver, yellow/silver/yellow and orange/silver/orange.
- For the heat transfer option, we use 3M Retro-Reflective Segmented striping, designed to enhance visibility in low light and nighttime conditions, and is much more breathable compared to sew-on.
Customized to Suit your Needs
While striping itself provides an extra element of safety, the configuration of that striping can also make a big difference. For example, many manufacturers still use vertical striping on the front of the garment, but have switched to the cross buck configuration on the back. This is for facilities that have a lot of forklift or overhead crane traffic. When forklift drivers or overhead crane operators see the vertical striping, they know that person is facing them. When they see cross bucks, they know that person is facing away, and need to take extra care. The cross buck configuration is a low-cost way to have a positive effect on a safety culture.
All of these hi-vis fabrics and hi-vis striping options give us the ability to design and manufacture safety apparel specific to your company and your facility.
Our hi-vis fabrics are used to make long and short sleeve tees, hoodies, vests, jackets, pants and chaps, and armbands.
The hi-vis striping can be added to any of our safety apparel made for welding, grinding, cuts and punctures, molten metal splash, and cold weather and thermal protection, such as:
- One-piece pullovers
- Teamwear
- Jackets
- Capes sleeves and bibs
- Bib overalls
- Pants and chaps
- Over pants
- Lab coats
- Safety vests
